On Wednesday 24th October 2018 John Cotton Europe had their grand opening of their new factory in Szczawno Zdroj/Walbrzych, Poland. Duvets, toppers and children’s mattresses will be made here which has generated 100 new jobs!
The factory is a sizeable 130,000 square feet.
In attendance for the grand opening where the Mayor of Szczawno and Mayor of Gluszyca along with John Cotton, Mark Cotton, Nicholas Manning and Paul Butterfield who had flown from the UK for this special event.
Managing Director of John Cotton Europe, Michael Rudniak, said “This world class facility will provide a great platform for future growth for John Cotton Europe. This was a really challenging project which went extremely well. From being a retail macro outfit to being a very important well-equipped business unit is incredible in the time scale of 1 year”.
John Cotton Group has won 'Bed Component Supplier of the Year 2017/2018'. For launching the UK’s first foam free Monobloc mattress core for cots and for achieving the ISO/TS16949 certification, the first bedding company in the UK to hold it.
John Cotton Group has signed an agreement to purchase Australia’s leading pillow and duvet producing business, Tontine.
John Cotton Group will purchase the Tontine business from Pacific Brands, part of the Hanes Brands Group, in the first quarter of 2017. The Tontine business has an annual turnover of £25m, employs 90 people and is located just outside of Melbourne.
John Cotton commented:
“It is a great pleasure to announce this significant expansion in the business in our centenary year. Tontine is a well-managed, long standing business and the leading pillow brand in the Australian market with great opportunities to develop further.
“Strategically this acquisition expands the John Cotton Group’s Home Textile business and we will now have a significant presence in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australasia.”

Seven riders from across the company, will fly to Gluszyca in Poland on Friday 9th September. Then on the morning of the 10th, the team will take on the first stage of the ride, which will see them cycle 126 miles at a total elevation of 4,500 feet, to the town of Uhyst in Germany.
